Back number
This article will introduce a Japanese boys rock band, which has increased its popularity among young girls in the last few years. It's called "back number", and they are famous for their unique lyrics, which is, most of the time, referred to as being girly. It's written from the boy's point of view most of the time, and the boy that comes up are often quite pessimistic, to a point it's really cute to hear him think so negatively. (I've actually introduced them a little bit in the previous article about a movie called "Tomorrow I will date yesterday's you"
For example, let's take a look at the lyrics of "Takane no Hanako San". (Takane no Hana in Japanese means a woman who is very difficult for guys to reach, because of her status and appearance)
The song starts off saying
"I know I am only a friend of a friend of yours"
yeah, pretty depressing.
My favourite bit is when it goes
"The person you'll date with is probably gonna be someone who's like a model. He'd probably be older than you, have nice tanned skin, and like Western music....I can't win against him in anyways. Wait, who is that person?"
A lot of pessimism going on.

The negative lyrics and the pleasant upbeat balance out really well :)
In addition, it's just the fact that a lot of people felt the same way at some point of their life. We've all had the moments when we just feel like our crush will never look at us (at least most of us :P)
I recommend you listen to some of their songs with the translation of the lyrics, which you can find all on the internet (I can't really translate all here due to copy right reasons)
