Where Japanese teens fashion come from

As a lot of girls (and guys) around the world do, girls in Japan read fashion magazines! Like everywhere else, there are many magazines specific to different styles, and I am gonna introduce some of the ones that are popular among my friends here.

Seventeen

The Japanese version of Seventeen, targeted at the girls in junior high school and high school. The style is quite simple, and the main focus seems to be "looking cute".

non-no

Another magazine from Shueisya, with quite similar style to that of Seventeen. The target audience, however, is slightly older than Seventeen. (From late high school to university). The models in "non-no" often appear in the Japanese TV series, so it's also a good starting point to get to know famous actresses and shows from Japan.

There's also the "MEN'S NON-NO", and I can say almost all the boys interested in fashion at this age look through it.

Popteen

Popteen could be quite different from the style of Seventeen and non-no, as those two are a lot simpler than Popteen.

The hardcopies of these magazines are probably only sold in Japan or in the Japanese bookstore like "Kinokuniya" abroad, but they can also be found on amazon. In addition, there is a kindle version as well, which means you can read it from anywhere if you have the internet.
Try checking them out :)
