So, as I've said in the previous article , I decided to introduce Japanese girls fashion through snapshots :) So in this picture I'm wearing one of my favourite tops from CECIL McBEE. CECIL McBEE really is a very popular brands among Japanese girls aged around high school, and I often get things from their too. You might wanna check their website at  http://cecilmcbee.jp/  they have bunch of really cute stuff :) I often wear skirt with it like this But it does go with jeans as well!

Arashi -2-

Image
Time for another article about Arashi :) (The last one can be found here ) In this one, I'm gonna introduce each of the 5 members and tell you why they are so great :P Satoshi Ohno (One word to describe him: talented) Satoshi, the leader of Arashi, is an extremely talented guy. He is a real artist, as he can dance, sing, and draw exceptionally well. Despite his job as an idol, he had an exhibition of his art twice, across Japan and China. They all ended in success. His skill of dancing and singing are especially shown when he performs his solo in the concert, although you can see that clearly when he is performing with other members too :) What I think makes him attractive to the fans is the fact that he always looks so chilled, and doesn't seem passionate at all in what he's doing especially when on TV, but once he starts performing, you just cannot take your eye off him. (His famous episodes include him falling asleep while recording a TV show that was going to

Starbucks in Japan

Image
Okay, Starbucks is everywhere. Anywhere I go in the world, I can find Starbucks. I know some people are not a big fun of Starbucks, but I have to admit, it is my favourite place, and the ones in Japan especially. The reason for this is the seasonal drinks that they produce. I enjoy getting seasonal seasonal drinks at Starbucks in any places in the world, but the ones in Japan are exceptionally unique and tasty!! So let me introduce you some of the ones I've liked the most, and the current seasonal flavours :) First, there's a flavour that I still remember from 2012, which is... Frappuccino with white chocolate pudding (2012) taken from the press release of Starbucks Since it was a flavour from 2012, I was still 13, it does seem like ages ago! But I still actually remember the exact taste of this frappeccino. What was so special about this was that it had pudding at the bottom, the white bit in the picture, and it was such a unique feeling to drink a f

RICH MAN, POOR WOMAN

Image
So, I wanted to introduce some of the Japanese TV series that I liked, and I was thinking, WHICH ONE SHOULD I START WITH? Should I start with "Boys over Flowers", (花より男子), which is probably one of the most well known Japanese romantic series in the last 10 years, or "Hanzawa Naoki"(半沢直樹), which was the TV series that marked one of the highest watching rate in Japan despite the fact that less and less people watch TV series now? I've seen so many Japanese series in the past, and I just didn't know which one to introduce first. So I'm just gonna start with my favourite one, which is "RICH MAN, POOR WOMAN"(リッチマン、プアウーマン). It's a series that was on in 2012, and the main cast included Shun Oguri and Satomi Ishihara, both of them really popular actors/actresses. It is a romantic stories between a CEO of a venture company and a university student. (I know this setting reminds you of a movie, but PLEASE BE REMINDED IT IS NOTHING LIKE THAT M

Popular SNS and apps in Japan

Image
This article will talk about the apps that are popular among Japanese girls, especially the social networks apps. (I have introduced some of the camera apps in the previous article, ❤︎ ) LINE First, LINE is definitely THE most used app in Japan, not only among girls but any generation. It’s like a Japanese version of WhatsApp, just with a bit more features. The stickers that you can send on the LINE are all so unique and cute, nothing comparable to the ones on messenger or other normal emojis. (Just to make sure you know, emoji is also a culture or a concept developed by Japanese young girls, and the word “emoji” itself is a Japanese word meaning picture letter:) LINE has also produced several apps including games and music app, which are all fairly successful. Instagram, Twitter Yeah, these are the other two major social networks that Japanese teens use, but I guess they are nothing new or special to you. Got nothing else to say really. (I've introduced some of the p

Back number

Image
This article will introduce a Japanese boys rock band, which has increased its popularity among young girls in the last few years. It's called "back number", and they are famous for their unique lyrics, which is, most of the time, referred to as being girly. It's written from the boy's point of view most of the time, and the boy that comes up are often quite pessimistic, to a point it's really cute to hear him think so negatively. (I've actually introduced them a little bit in the previous article about a movie called " Tomorrow I will date yesterday's you " Taken from their official website For example, let's take a look at the lyrics of "Takane no Hanako San". (Takane no Hana in Japanese means a woman who is very difficult for guys to reach, because of her status and appearance) The song starts off saying "I know I am only a friend of a friend of yours" yeah, pretty depressing. My favourite bit is when it

Koi Dance (from "Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu")

Image
In this article, I will be introducing the choreography that was so popular in Japan during the 2016 winter. It is called the Koi Dance, as it was made to a song called Koi (恋), a theme song to the popular TV series called "Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu". "Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu" is a TV series that focused on a relationship between Mikuri and Hiramasa, who decide to have a contract marriage. Although they had a contract marriage only for their own benefit at the beginning, they gradually start to fall in love with each other. The characters are all very unique, with a girl being traumatised from her lack of luck and her bad previous relationship, and the guy even calling himself a "professional single(er)". To be honest, I am still half way through the series, so I can't tell much about the storyline. However, even I know that Koi Dance, which the actors and the actresses from this TV series danced at the end of each episode, was

Snapshots

So, I was internet surfing, and I thought "I wanna see what comes up if I google "Japanese girl fashion". So i did it, and there we go all those pictures of girls styling very unique. Okay, some girls do dress like that in Japan, but really, that's not what the majority of Japanese girls would wear. I find a lot of people in Japan, probably slightly more than other countries, like taking care of the ways they dress. We do not want it to be too unique that we get too much unnecessary attention, but we still wanna keep ourselves reasonably fashionable. It's probably the reason why fashion magazine is so popular in Japan in general, I find girls are especially spend a lot more time reading magazines than those in other countries. (Popular magazines introduced in a previous article ) I decided I want to describe the style a lot of girls follow in Japan, just because it's so cute and I love it, but I find it difficult to describe it verbally. So yeah, I found

Arashi 嵐

Image
In this article, I will be introducing a boys band, probably the most famous, popular and yes, the most mainstream band in Japan at the moment. They are called Arashi ( 嵐 ), meaning storm in Japanese. I am quite a fun of them myself, so I might end up talking a lot about them. Official off shot from their recent tour, "Are you happy?" From left, Masaki, Satoshi, Jun, Kazunari, Sho Arashi consists of 5 members, Satoshi, Sho, Masaki, Kazunari and Jun. The members are all unique, and there are lots to talk about all of them, but I am planning to focus on them individually in a different article, just because I know it’s gonna be too long otherwise. So, to begin with, their brief history. In 1999, they hold a press conference in Hawaii, confirming their debut. They had all belonged to the agency called “Johnny’s & Associates”, famous for having a lot of handsome and popular boys belonging to it. Out of many boys who belonged to Johnny’s they were chosen to

Drowning knife (Oboreru Knife) - Japanese movie

Image
This week, I'll introduce you another Japanese romantic movie that was released this winter, which is "Drowning knife (Oboreru Knife). I went to see it, and I was really impressed by all the beautiful scenes that appeared on the screen. Natsume and Kou, taken from the official website Brief story: Natsume, a 15 year old girl who is also a popular model, moves for far from Tokyo for her family reasons. She was completely bored living in the countryside, but she meets Kou, a boy so different from everyone in the way he lives in a complete freedom. Although not getting on well at the beginning, Natsume eventually realises she is so attracted by Kou, and they'd eventually get together. They felt like they could do anything if they stayed together. However, a tragic event happens on a day of summer festival. Feeling of strength broken, the bond between them break too. What decision will they make at about their future...? Yeah, it was quite difficult to write the b

Japanese stationary

Image
So, time to introduce some amazing Japanese stationary!!! I love those Japanese stationaries that are both pretty and practical :) First, this is the Frixion colour pens! I guess some of you have heard of this or even own some of this, as it's quite famous outside Japan too. But yeah, I have to stress, this is really really good! You can write stuff with pen, and yet erase it, great for occasions in which you do not want to make mistake (like the middle of a birthday card to your friend) Second, this pair of scissors , "stickyle" is absolutely amazing. You can easily put it in your pencil case even when it's small, as you can make it straight like a pen, meaning it does not take up so much space like scissors normally do. It's also just really cool to have a "pen" that turns out to be a pair of scissors!! Finally, the "check pen" and "check sheet"! This is a quite unique stationary that I have only seen in Japan. Ba
